An intimate assembly of highly motivated, talented, and intelligent Black women recognized the absence of a Boston-based organization offering young Black women the necessary resources and support to help them realize their full potential.As a result, in 2005, The Young Black Women’s Society, Inc. was born.
In 2005, The Young Black Women's Society, Inc. (YBWS), a 501 (c)(3) organization was founded to address the need for a Boston-based organization providing women and girls of color a platform for support, civic engagement and development.

She received the award on May 18, 2010 at The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum. On March 18, 2010, YBWS Inc. accepted a Social Service Award presented by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated - Eastern Region; for its work within the community and with Women of Color.
